How to Choose How a Mix & Match Bundle Appears in the Cart and at Checkout

After a customer completes a Mix & Match Bundle and adds it to the cart, you can choose how the bundle appears in the cart and on the Shopify checkout page.
uShopAid provides two display options:

  • As one item — the entire bundle appears as a single product
  • As separate items — each selected product appears individually

The main difference is how the bundle is presented to customers in the cart and at checkout.
Both options use the same underlying bundle products for inventory tracking and order management.

What Is the Difference Between the Two Options?

As one item

When you select As one item, the entire bundle appears as one product in the cart.
For example, if a customer selects five bracelets, the cart can display:
Jewelry Bundle × 1
The products selected by the customer can still be listed underneath the bundle as item details.
This option is suitable for:

  • Build-a-box bundles
  • Gift boxes
  • Jewelry sets
  • Snack boxes
  • Tea boxes
  • Skincare sets
  • Holiday gift sets
  • Bundles that should look like one complete product
  • Stores that want a cleaner cart layout

Note: As one item only changes how the bundle appears in the cart and at checkout. It does not change inventory deduction or the way the underlying products are recorded in the order.

How As one item appears in the cart

The entire bundle appears as one cart item, while the selected products are listed underneath as bundle details.

How As one item appears at checkout

At checkout, the bundle remains one line item. Customers can expand the bundle to review the products included in it.*

As separate items

When you select As separate items, every product selected by the customer appears as an individual item in the cart and at checkout.
For example, a three-product body wash bundle may appear as:

  • Sample Body Wash #13 × 1
  • Sample Body Wash #21 × 1
  • Sample Body Wash #20 × 1

Each item can display its own:

  • Product image
  • Product name
  • Quantity
  • Original price
  • Discounted price
  • Bundle discount information

This option is suitable for:

  • Bundles containing several different products
  • Bundles containing different colors, sizes, or variants
  • Stores that want customers to review every selected item directly
  • Offers such as Buy Any 3, Save 15%
  • Stores that want the discount shown separately on each product

Note: As separate items only changes how the products appear in the cart and at checkout. It does not change inventory tracking, order records, or backend product management.

How As separate items appears in the cart

Each selected bundle product appears separately in the cart with its own image, quantity, and discounted price.

How As separate items appears at checkout

At checkout, every bundle product remains a separate line item, and the bundle discount is shown on each product.

How to Configure the Cart and Checkout Display

Step 1: Open the Mix & Match Bundle

Open the uShopAid app and select the Mix & Match Bundle you want to edit.

Step 2: Open Bundle Settings

From the menu on the left side of the bundle editor, click:
Bundle Settings
Then expand:
Bundle display type

Step 3: Choose Where the Bundle Is Displayed

Under Bundle display type, find:
Where to display the bundle?
You will see two options:

Create a product for this bundle — it will appear on the product page

uShopAid creates a Shopify product for the bundle.
Customers can open the bundle product page and select the products they want to include.

Create landing page for this bundle (no product)

uShopAid creates a standalone landing page for the bundle, but it does not create a Shopify bundle product.

Choose “Create a product for this bundle” when you want to display the bundle as one item in the cart and at checkout.

Important: As one item Requires a Bundle Product

To display the bundle as As one item, you must select:
Where to display the bundle? → Create a product for this bundle — it will appear on the product page
This is required because uShopAid needs a bundle product to represent the complete bundle as one cart item.
If you select:
Create landing page for this bundle (no product)
no bundle product is created, so the bundle cannot be added to the cart as one item.

As one item only works when the bundle is created as a product.

Step 4: Choose How the Bundle Appears in the Cart or at Checkout

Find the setting:
How to display the bundle on the cart or checkout page?
Then choose one of the following options:

  • As one item
  • As separate items

Choose whether the Mix & Match Bundle appears as one item or as separate items in the cart and at checkout.

How to Set the Bundle to As one item

Use the following settings:
Bundle Settings → Bundle display type
Under:
Where to display the bundle?
select:
Create a product for this bundle — it will appear on the product page
Then, under:
How to display the bundle on the cart or checkout page?
select:
As one item
The complete setup path is:
Bundle Settings → Bundle display type → Where to display the bundle? → Create a product for this bundle — it will appear on the product page
Then:
How to display the bundle on the cart or checkout page? → As one item

Displaying the Selected Bundle Items

When As one item is selected, you can also enable:
Display bundle item details in the cart
When this option is enabled, the cart displays the products selected by the customer underneath the bundle product.
For example:
Jewelry Bundle × 1
Bundle details:

  • Sample Bracelet #6
  • Sample Bracelet #3
  • Sample Bracelet #4
  • Sample Bracelet #2
  • Sample Bracelet #1

This keeps the cart clean while still allowing customers to confirm which products are included in the bundle.
The exact appearance may vary depending on the Shopify theme.

How to Set the Bundle to As separate items

Under:
How to display the bundle on the cart or checkout page?
select:
As separate items
The setting path is:
Bundle Settings → Bundle display type → How to display the bundle on the cart or checkout page? → As separate items

Select “As separate items” to display every chosen bundle product individually in the cart and at checkout.

Step 5: Save the Bundle

After changing the settings, save the bundle.
If the top of the editor displays:
Unsaved changes
the settings have not been saved yet.
Save the bundle before testing it on the storefront.

Step 6: Test the Bundle on the Storefront

After saving the bundle:

  1. Open the bundle page on your storefront.
  2. Select the required products.
  3. Click Add to Cart.
  4. Open the cart drawer or cart page.
  5. Confirm that the bundle appears correctly.
  6. Continue to checkout and check the checkout display.

Before testing, remove any previously added bundle items from the cart.
Bundles added before the setting was changed may still use the previous display format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a Mix & Match Bundle appear as only one product in the cart?

Yes.
Go to:
Bundle Settings → Bundle display type
Under:
Where to display the bundle?
select:
Create a product for this bundle — it will appear on the product page
Then select:
How to display the bundle on the cart or checkout page? → As one item

Why can’t I use As one item?

Check the following setting:
Where to display the bundle?
It must be set to:
Create a product for this bundle — it will appear on the product page
As one item requires a bundle product.
If the bundle is configured as:
Create landing page for this bundle (no product)
the bundle cannot be displayed as one cart item.

Why does my bundle appear as multiple products in the cart?

The bundle is currently configured as:
As separate items
In this mode, every product selected by the customer appears separately.
To show the bundle as one cart item, change the setting to:
As one item
Also make sure the bundle is created as a product.

Why can I still see the selected products when As one item is enabled?

This is expected.
As one item means that the complete bundle is displayed as one main cart item.
If the following option is enabled:
Display bundle item details in the cart
the selected products will appear underneath the bundle as details.
They are not separate main cart items.

Does As one item change inventory tracking?

No.
Even though the cart displays one bundle item, inventory is still handled according to the actual products selected by the customer.
The setting only changes the cart and checkout presentation.

Does As separate items use different inventory management?

No.
Inventory management works the same way for both display options.
The inventory of the actual products included in the bundle is still tracked.

Do these options change order management?

The main difference is the customer-facing display in the cart and at checkout.
The actual products included in the bundle are still recorded and managed.
Choose the option based on how you want the bundle to appear to customers, rather than based on inventory or order management.

Why did the cart display not change after I updated the setting?

The cart may still contain a bundle that was added before the setting was changed.
Try the following:

  1. Save the bundle.
  2. Clear the cart.
  3. Refresh the storefront.
  4. Select the bundle products again.
  5. Add the bundle to the cart again.

Which option is better for a build-a-box or gift box?

As one item is usually the better choice.
It makes the complete box appear as one product while still allowing the selected products to be shown as bundle details.

Which option is better for a Buy Any 3, Save 15% offer?

As separate items is often suitable because customers can see the three selected products and the discount applied to each one.
However, this is not required. You can choose either option based on the cart experience you want to provide.

Troubleshooting

If the bundle still does not appear correctly, check the following:

  • The bundle has been saved
  • The editor no longer displays Unsaved changes
  • The cart was cleared before testing
  • The bundle was added again after the setting was changed
  • The correct display option is selected
  • A bundle product was created when using As one item
  • The store uses a third-party cart drawer or cart app
  • The Shopify theme hides bundle item details or product properties

When contacting uShopAid support, provide:

  • Your store URL
  • The bundle name
  • The bundle page URL
  • A cart screenshot
  • A checkout screenshot
  • The selected display option
  • The Shopify theme name
  • The name of any third-party cart app being used

This information will help the support team investigate the issue more quickly.

Quick Setup Summary
