How to Set Product Selection Quantity Limits in the Mix & Match Bundle Editor

This guide applies only to bundles created with the uShopAid Mix & Match Bundle Editor. These settings are not available for Product Bundles, Classic Bundles, Volume Discounts, or other bundle types.

In the Mix & Match Bundle Editor, you can control product selection requirements at three different levels:

Product level: Control the quantity added when a product is first selected, the quantity added with each click, and the maximum quantity allowed for one product.
Product List level: Control how many items shoppers must select from a specific Product List or the required value of those items.
Step Page level: Control the total quantity or amount shoppers must select across all Product Lists on the current page.

These settings can be used separately or together. Understanding how each level works helps you create accurate selection rules and avoid configurations that shoppers cannot complete.

What Is the Difference Between the Three Levels?

Level	Setting	Applies to	Main purpose

In simple terms:

How each product is added is controlled by Items per product.
How much shoppers must select from each Product List is controlled by Items from this list.
When the entire Step Page is complete is controlled by Required Selections.

1. Set the Quantity for Each Product

Items per product controls how each product can be added from a Product List.
It includes three settings:

Initial add quantity: The quantity added the first time a shopper selects a product.
Increment quantity: The quantity added each time the shopper clicks +.
Maximum quantity limit (optional): The maximum number of units that can be selected for the same product. This field can be left empty.

How to Configure It

Select the Product List you want to configure in the editor.
Select General in the settings panel that appears.
Expand Quantity settings.
Find Items per product.
Configure the initial quantity, increment quantity, and optional maximum quantity.
Save the bundle.

The complete path is:

Product List → General → Quantity settings → Items per product

Expand Quantity settings under the Product List’s General tab to configure how each product is added.

The settings panel automatically changes position based on the available screen width. It may appear on the right side of the editor on a larger screen or on the left side on a smaller screen.

Example

If you configure:

Initial add quantity: 2
Increment quantity: 2
Maximum quantity limit: 6

The first time a shopper selects a product, 2 units are added. Each subsequent click on + adds another 2 units.
The available quantities will be:

2 → 4 → 6

After the quantity reaches 6, the shopper cannot add more units of that product.
If you configure:

Initial add quantity: 1
Increment quantity: 1
Maximum quantity limit: Leave empty

This means:

1 unit is added when the product is first selected.
Each click on + adds 1 unit.
No separate maximum quantity is set for that product.

Maximum quantity limit applies only to an individual product. It does not limit the total number of items shoppers can select from the entire Product List. Product List requirements are controlled by Items from this list.

2. Set Selection Requirements for a Product List

Items from this list controls how many items shoppers must select from the current Product List or the required total value of those items.
Each Product List can have its own requirements. These conditions only count products selected from the current Product List, not products from other Product Lists on the same page.

How to Configure It

Select the Product List you want to configure in the editor.
Select General in the settings panel that appears.
Expand Quantity settings.
Find Items from this list.
Add or edit the selection requirements.
Save the bundle.

The complete path is:

Product List → General → Quantity settings → Items from this list

Configure selection requirements for the current Product List under Quantity settings.

Set a Quantity Requirement

Select Quantity to control the total number of items shoppers must select from the current Product List.
For example:

Quantity → equal to → 1

This requires shoppers to select exactly 1 item from the current Product List.
Another example:

Quantity → greater than or equal to → 2

This requires shoppers to select at least 2 items from the current Product List.

Set the total number of items shoppers must select from the current Product List.
Quantity counts the total number of units selected from the current Product List. If a shopper selects multiple units of the same product, all those units are included.

Set an Amount Requirement

Select Amount to control the total value of the products selected from the current Product List.
For example:

Amount → greater than or equal to → $50

This requires the selected products in the current Product List to have a combined value of at least $50.

Set the minimum total value shoppers must select from the current Product List.

A Product List-level Amount requirement only counts products from that specific Product List. It does not include products selected from other Product Lists on the same page.

Add Multiple Requirements

You can add multiple requirements to the same Product List.
For example:

Quantity → greater than or equal to → 2
Amount → greater than or equal to → $50

The shopper must satisfy both requirements:

Select at least 2 items from the current Product List.
Reach a total selected value of at least $50.

A Product List can have both quantity and amount requirements.

When adding multiple requirements, make sure they can all be satisfied at the same time. Otherwise, shoppers may be unable to complete the bundle.

Match Another Product List

Instead of setting a specific Quantity or Amount requirement, you can select:

Match another product list

This makes the selected quantity in the current Product List match the quantity selected from another Product List.
For example:

The shopper selects 3 items from Product List 1.
Product List 2 must also contain 3 selected items.

This can be useful when:

Main products and accessories must use matching quantities.
Tops and bottoms must be selected in equal quantities.
Products from two lists need to be paired one-to-one.

Make the selected quantity in one Product List match another Product List.

Customize the Requirement Message for Each Product List

When a page contains multiple Product Lists, a general requirement message may not clearly tell shoppers which Product List is incomplete.
You can include the Product List name in the message so shoppers know exactly where they need to select more products.
Step 1: Give the Product List a Meaningful Name
In Products & Layout, locate the Product List and click the ··· menu.
Select Rename, then replace the default name with a name that shoppers can easily understand, such as:

Choose Your Table
Choose Your Chairs
Select Your Drinks

Step 2: Add the Product List Name to the Requirement Message
Open Global text in the left sidebar and find Required quantity for the product list.
Add the following variables to the appropriate requirement messages:

{{product_list_name}} displays the name of the Product List whose requirement has not been met.
{{quantity}} displays the required quantity.

For example:

Please select at least {{quantity}} product(s) from {{product_list_name}}.

If the Product List is named Choose Your Chairs and requires at least four products, shoppers will see:

Please select at least 4 product(s) from Choose Your Chairs.

Click Confirm to save the changes.

The {{product_list_name}} variable automatically displays the name of the Product List whose requirement has not been met. You do not need to create a separate message for each Product List.

3. Set Selection Requirements for the Entire Step Page

The Step Page-level Required Selections setting controls the selection requirements shoppers must meet on the current page.
It counts selections from all Product Lists on that Step Page.
For example, suppose the current Step Page contains two Product Lists:

1 item is selected from Product List 1.
2 items are selected from Product List 2.

If the Step Page requirement is:

Quantity → equal to → 3

The requirement is satisfied when the combined quantity from both Product Lists reaches exactly 3.

How to Configure It

Select the Step Page you want to configure, such as Choose Your Table.
Find Required Selections in the settings panel that appears.
Add a Quantity or Amount requirement.
Save the bundle.

Set the requirements that shoppers must satisfy across the entire Step Page.

Set a Step Page Quantity Requirement

Select Quantity to control the total number of items shoppers must select on the current Step Page.
For example:

Quantity → equal to → 1

This requires the shopper to select exactly 1 item on the current page.
If the page contains multiple Product Lists, Quantity counts the combined number of selected items across all those Product Lists.
Another example:

Quantity → greater than or equal to → 3

This requires the shopper to select at least 3 items in total on the current page.

Set the total number of items shoppers must select on the current Step Page.

Set a Step Page Amount Requirement

Select Amount to control the combined value of all products selected on the current Step Page.
For example:

Amount → greater than or equal to → $100

This requires the combined value of products selected from all Product Lists on the current page to reach at least $100.

Set the total value shoppers must select on the current Step Page.

A Step Page-level Amount requirement counts selections from all Product Lists on the current page. A Product List-level Amount requirement only counts selections from that specific list.

Add Multiple Step Page Requirements

You can add multiple Required Selections conditions to the same Step Page.
For example:

Quantity → greater than or equal to → 3
Amount → greater than or equal to → $100

The shopper must satisfy both requirements:

Select at least 3 items on the current page.
Reach a total selected value of at least $100.

Multiple conditions can create stricter completion requirements, but you should make sure all conditions can be satisfied together.

Automatically Continue to the Next Step Page

The Step Page-level Required Selections setting supports automatically moving shoppers to the next Step Page when the requirement is satisfied.
This option appears in the editor as:
Auto Next when requirement is met
It can only be enabled when both of the following conditions are met:

The current Step Page has only one Required Selections condition.
That condition uses equal to.

For example:

Quantity → equal to → 1

When Auto Next when requirement is met is enabled, the shopper automatically moves to the next Step Page after selecting exactly 1 item.
It can also be used with an Amount requirement:

Amount → equal to → $50

The shopper automatically moves to the next Step Page when the combined value selected on the current page is exactly $50.

Automatically continue to the next Step Page when the page’s single equal to requirement is satisfied.
You cannot enable this feature when:

The Step Page has two or more Required Selections conditions.
The condition uses greater than or equal to or another comparison method.

Auto Next when requirement is met only supports one equal to condition. It cannot be enabled when multiple requirements are added or another comparison method is used.

If shoppers may need more time to compare products, choose variants, or adjust quantities, you can leave this option disabled and let them continue manually.

How Do the Three Levels Work Together?

Suppose you are creating a table-and-chair bundle with two Product Lists on the same Step Page:

Product List 1: Tables
Product List 2: Chairs

You can configure the three levels as follows.

Product Level

Under the Chairs Product List, configure:

Initial add quantity: 1
Increment quantity: 1
Maximum quantity limit: 4

This means:

1 chair is added when the shopper first selects a chair product.
Each click on + adds 1 chair.
The shopper can select up to 4 units of the same chair product.

Product List Level

Configure separate requirements for the two Product Lists:

Tables: Quantity → equal to → 1
Chairs: Quantity → greater than or equal to → 2

The shopper must:

Select exactly 1 table from Tables.
Select at least 2 chairs from Chairs.

Step Page Level

If the tables and chairs appear on the same Step Page, you can configure:

Quantity → greater than or equal to → 3

This requires the shopper to select at least 3 items in total on the current page.
The three levels now control:

How each individual product can be added.
How much must be selected from each Product List.
What the shopper must select to complete the entire Step Page.

Important Configuration Considerations

Make Sure the Increment Can Reach the Required Quantity

Suppose a product is configured as:

Initial add quantity: 2
Increment quantity: 2

The available quantities will be:

2 → 4 → 6

If a Product List or Step Page requirement is:

Quantity → equal to → 3

The shopper may be unable to reach exactly 3 using that product.
When using equal to, make sure the initial quantity and increment quantity allow the shopper to reach the required value.

Check Whether the Product Maximum Conflicts With the List Requirement

Suppose a Product List contains only one product with:

Maximum quantity limit: 2

However, the Product List requirement is:

Quantity → equal to → 3

The shopper cannot satisfy this requirement.
If the Product List contains multiple products, the shopper may be able to reach the required total by selecting other products.

Make Sure Product List and Step Page Requirements Are Compatible

For example:

Product List 1: Quantity → equal to → 1
Product List 2: Quantity → equal to → 2

Together, the two lists require a total of 3 items.
The Step Page requirement can therefore be:

Quantity → equal to → 3

If the Product List and Step Page conditions cannot be satisfied together, shoppers may be unable to complete the page.

Use Auto Next Carefully

Automatically continuing to the next page works best when the selection target is simple and unambiguous, such as:

Quantity → equal to → 1

If shoppers may want to change products, variants, or quantities before continuing, consider leaving automatic navigation disabled.

Test the Shopper Experience

After saving the bundle, test it on both desktop and mobile devices.
Check that:

The correct quantity is added when a product is first selected.
Clicking + increases the quantity by the expected amount.
The maximum quantity limit works correctly.
Each Product List requirement can be satisfied.
Step Page requirements correctly count selections from all Product Lists.
Automatic navigation occurs at the correct time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Maximum quantity limit apply to the entire Product List?

No.
Maximum quantity limit only controls how many units of the same product can be selected. Requirements for the entire Product List are controlled by Items from this list.

Does Product List Quantity count multiple units of the same product?

Yes.
Quantity counts the total number of units selected from the current Product List, including multiple units of the same product.

Does a Product List Amount requirement count products from other lists?

No.
A Product List-level Amount requirement only counts products selected from that Product List.

Does Step Page Quantity count multiple Product Lists?

Yes.
Step Page-level Quantity counts all selected items across every Product List on the current Step Page.

Does Step Page Amount count multiple Product Lists?

Yes.
Step Page-level Amount counts the combined value of selected products across every Product List on the current Step Page.

Can I configure both Product List and Step Page requirements?

Yes.
Product List conditions control the selections required from each list, while Step Page-level Required Selections control the combined result for the entire page. Shoppers must satisfy all applicable requirements.

Why Can’t I Enable Auto Next when requirement is met?

This option can only be enabled when:

The current Step Page has exactly one Required Selections condition.
That condition uses equal to.

You cannot enable it if multiple conditions are added or if the condition uses greater than or equal to or another comparison method.

Why Can’t Shoppers Satisfy an equal to Requirement?

Common causes include:

Initial add quantity is higher than the required quantity.
The Increment quantity does not allow shoppers to reach the exact target.
Maximum quantity limit is lower than the required quantity.
Product List requirements conflict with Step Page requirements.
Quantity and Amount requirements cannot be satisfied at the same time.

When troubleshooting, check the settings in this order:

Items per product
Items from this list
Required Selections

In other words:
How each product is added → What each Product List requires → What the entire Step Page requires.
