Overview

This article mainly explains what Segment is, what are the advantages of Segment, how to create Segment, and how to manage Segment.

What is segment

You may need to carry out different management and marketing for different consumers, such as consumers who place orders in your store for the first time, consumers who have placed orders in your store more than 3 times in the past six months, and cousumers who havn't place orders in your store in the past six months, etc. Segment can easily and efficiently meet your needs. A segment is a dynamic contact list. The qualified contacts will be automatically added to the segment, and the unqualified contacts will be automatically removed from the segment.

For example, if you create a segment, the filter condition is "Consumers who have not placed orders in my store in the past six months", consumers who have not placed orders in your store in the past six months will be added to this segment immediately. Aftert consumer being added to the segment, if he places an order in your store, he will be automatically removed from the segment.

You can create one or more Segments.

Advantages of Segment

Segment has the following advantages:

  1. Creating a segment is easy, just select the filter conditions you want.

  2. After a segment is created, consumers that meet the filtering conditions will be automatically added to the segment, and you do not need to do manually.

  3. After the consumer being added to a segment, if it performs some operations and no longer meets the filtering conditions, it will be automatically removed from the segment.

  4. uShopAid provides enough filter conditions, you can choose any filter conditions to filter consumers according to your needs.

  5. Segment, Flow, and Campaign are used in combination to finish email marketing for different consumers. For more information on Getting Started with Flow, Create a Campaign.

Create Segment

Creating a segment is very simple, you only need to enter the name of the segment and select the filter conditions you want.

The filter conditions for Segment are divided into three categories:

Properties about someone

  • Street Address

  • City

  • State/Province

  • Country/Region

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email Address

  • Tags

What someone has done(or not done)

  • Cancelled Order

  • Checkout Started

  • Fulfilled Order

  • Placed Order

  • Refund Order

  • Bounced Email

  • Clicked Email

  • Marked Email as Spam

  • Opened Email

  • Received Email

  • Active on Site

  • Unsubscribed Email

If someone is in or not in a list

If someone is in / not in the specific list you created in uShopAid.

You can create simple Segment filters like "Consumer's email subscription status is subscribed".

You can also create complex segment filters like "Consumer's email subscription status is subscribed" and "Consumer has placed at least 3 orders in the past 90 days".

You can even create more complex segment filters, such as "Consumer's email subscription status is subscribed" and "Consumer has placed orders at least 3 times in the past 90 days OR Consumer has placed orders at least 6 times in the past 180 days".

Manage Segments

After a segment is created, you can adjust the filter conditions of the segment at any time. The segment will re-screen contacts according to the modified filter conditions. Contacts that meet the filter conditions will be automatically added to the segment, and contacts that do not meet the filter conditions will be automatically removed from the segment.

Adding or removing a contact to a segment is handled automatically. You cannot manually add or remove a contact to a segment. More reference documentation on how to add or remove contacts to a segment.
